I have Worked in the IT industry since 1986, as well as purely technical roles I have obtained experience in team management, process development, procurement, licensing, service desk strategies and procedures, as well as business process re-engineering and major system implementations and support.

Since 1995 specialised as an Oracle database administrator (DBA) covering versions 7.x to 9.2.x, across a variety of Unix and Wintel platforms. Providing assistance and support to packaged, custom and 3rd party systems developments. Experienced in mission critical, OLAP, data warehouse and OLTP projects, extensive knowledge of all system aspects such as architecture, security, profiling, auditing, performance, change control and disaster recovery.

Always keen to maintain my understanding of new developments and methods in my field I actively attend regular training and Oracle User Group (OUG) meetings and conferences.

Additionally I have varying development skills in a selection of disciplines including PL/SQL, SQL, PSP's, HTML, JavaScript, PHP and MySql.

To provide Production & Development DBA support for a range of business critical applications based on the Oracle database platform, utilising database versions 8.1.5 to 9iR2 and application server and development technologies (9iAS, Forms and Reports 6i) on both Sun Solaris and NT/2000 platforms.

Duties included Backup/Recovery, Performance Tuning, Installation, Documentation, Project Support, Planning, Design and Inter-Company Consulting.

Contract DBA support for new insurance risk system using Oracle and Amarta software platforms, based on Oracle 7.3.4 on a Sequent platform.

Duties included Software Release Control, Performance Tuning, Installation, Documentation, Developer Support.

To provide Financials DBA consultancy and health check for an Apps 11NCA GL/AR project, utilising Oracle 8.0.4 on HP-UX. Assisting in-house DBA with performance tuning and management methods.

To provide Financials DBA consultancy for major accounting system replacement to Oracle Financials. Implementation of 10.7 production 16 FA/GL/AP modules, utilising Oracle 7.3.2 on HP9000 HP-UX.

Duties included Financials DBA support, Performance Tuning, Technical Documentation, Security, End User Layer Design, Patch Application.

Permanent Automotive Design Business Systems Manager

Initially employed to develop a corporate business systems strategy for European offices, involving the rollout of a standardised set of products for networked PC infrastructure of 350 users in several European locations. Following success of rollout project seconded to the role of Oracle DBA responsible for European implementation of Oracle Financials 10.6/10.7 based on Oracle 7.1.6/7.3.3 using the Sun Solaris platform.

Employed to provide an IT service to the newly created health authority for employees at the head office and to 3 satellite offices. Tasks included implementation of the head office LAN, responsibility for corporate IT purchases, establishing standards, tendering and supplier evaluation and selection. Following successful infrastructure set-up, provide in-house helpdesk and support services.
